Michael Visin was born in 1936  in the U.S.S.R., where he spent formative decades of his life. He immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1979 and lived and worked in his studio in San Francisco until his death in 2016. He was a passionately dedicated and highly accomplished painter, a master, with strong influences such as Rembrandt, Cézanne, Matisse, and Picasso. He was constantly innovating, challenging himself to find new boundaries in various media: oil painting, ink drawing, sculpture, pottery. Michael left behind a massive body of work, most of it little known beyond a tight circle of his friends. This website is dedicated to bringing Visin’s artistic legacy to the public eye.
